VMware has announced the Project called Nano Edge, as the name represent it is small form factor designed to serve the seamless and software defined datacenter to remote and branch offices.
managing and monitoring infrastructure at the remote it is bit tedious and there is always gap that can be fill by SDDC.
Nano Edge Vsan enabled appliance will be running on the super micro E300-9D hardware and will be able run 25 to 30 vms.
as shown in below diagram it will required three node where two nodes are decided to serve compute and storage and one node will be utilized for witness however witness can be run on the remote location and all three node can be utilized to run vms
